MY STORY

ABOUT LUIGI STALTERI

longarico040.jpeg

I was born in a wonderful land rich in history and culture, surrounded by generous nature, with the sea, sun, and food as my childhood companions.

I moved to beautiful Bologna to study engineering, but soon left to embark on a new path in my life.

That’s how I opened a wine bar, named after a district where my maternal grandfather Nicolò had once cultivated grapes—La Fastuchera.

There, I discovered the world of wine, which fascinated me more and more. A few years later, I reconnected with a dear childhood friend with whom I had already shared many passions—Alessandro Viola.

And so, between one glass and many others, the Longarico project was born, with the goal of enhancing my grandfather’s land on the Alcamo mountain, in the heart of a Natural Reserve.

The inspiration for the name comes from the history of my city. With the arrival of the Romans, the inhabitants of the then-Greek 'Longuro' moved down to the slopes of Mount Bonifato to cultivate the fertile lands that benefited from the proximity to the sea. Thus, the city of Longarico was born—today’s Alcamo!

From a passion for Nature as well as wine, in 2015, Azienda Agricola Longarico was founded by enologist Alessandro Viola and myself, Luigi Stalteri.

In 2022, Alessandro left the company, confident in the skills I had acquired over the years through our rewarding collaboration. That year, I embarked on my new journey with my first solo harvest.

In memory of my grandfather, Nicolò…

VISION

The passion for wine and nature brought me back to my land. I feel a unique emotion when the harvest time arrives I imagine the wine in the making, tasting the grapes I’ve been waiting for all year. Sharing this with those who love this world makes me happy!
